Be Transformed

Who or what defines your worth? The world constantly tries to shape our identity through appearance, achievements, relationships, and social media. But why do we let these things define us?

The Trap of Acceptance and Shame

We all want to be accepted. It’s natural. But when we chase the world’s approval, we often end up feeling like we’ll never measure up. And that’s where shame creeps in—whether it’s the shame we put on ourselves or the shame others place on us. The enemy wants us to believe the lie that being different from this world is something to be ashamed of. But here’s the truth: real acceptance comes from God, who created you with a purpose and loves you completely.

Romans 12:2 reminds us:

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind."

We have to stop letting the world’s standards define us and instead let God renew our minds and show us our true worth.

Women Who Allowed God to Transform Their Worth

Let’s look at four women in the Bible who refused to let the world tell them who they were.

Ruth was a Moabite with no high status, but she chose faithfulness and was honored by God. Rahab was a Canaanite prostitute, yet she chose faith over fear and became part of God’s story. Esther was an orphan who became a queen and saved her people. The Woman with the Issue of Blood was labeled as unclean, but she reached out to Jesus and found healing.

The world tried to define them, but God had a different plan. And He has a different plan for you, too.

Each of these women showed incredible courage by trusting God with their worth. Ruth left behind everything she knew to follow God and care for her mother-in-law. Rahab risked her life to hide the Israelite spies and then chose to join God’s people. Esther stepped up and approached the king, even though it could have cost her her life. The Woman with the Issue of Blood pushed through the crowd to touch Jesus, believing He could heal her.

Here’s the amazing part—these women didn’t even have the Bible to read like we do. They heard about God, believed in Him, and acted in faith. We have His Word in our hands, so how much more should we trust Him?

Get in the Word. Let go of what the world says about you. Be courageous. Let God define your worth!

Challenge

This week, take some time to sit with each of these women’s stories. Read about them, think about how God transformed their lives, and ask Him to show you how to apply their faith and courage in your own life.
