God's Masterpiece

We live in a world that wants to define our worth. Through social media, peer pressure, and even family pressure it tries to tell us who we need to be in appearance, achievements, relationships, social status, etc.  Far too many times we give in and let it define us because we believe the lie that we are unworthy if we don’t meet the standards.

But God created us in His image. That image is not what the world throws are you. It is unique and special. A design that calls you to be different and to live differently.

 Romans 12:2 says…

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Ladies, we have to stop conforming in the places where the world tells us our worth is and start letting God transform our thinking towards our worth in Him.  When you choose to find your worth in God alone, then you begin to understand that His will for your life is better than what the world wants you to believe.

 Let’s look at four women in the bible who experienced some world-defining worth that they didn’t let define them.

 Ruth – They married Moabite women, one name Orpah and the other Ruth. (Ruth 1:4)

What defined her…
* Background – Moabite; Probably not from a family of high standing
* Religion – Moabites worshipped Chemosh

 Rahab – So they went and entered the house of a prostitute name Rahab. (Joshua 2:1)

What defined her…
* Background – Canaanite, Prostitute
* Religion – Multiple gods

Esther – Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, who he brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This girl was lovely in form and features, and Mordecai had taken her in as his own daughter when her father and mother died…Now the king was attracted to Esther more than any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. (Esther 2:7,17)

What defined her…
* Background – Orphan
* Looks – Beautiful
* Status – Queen

Woman with Issue of Blood – “And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.” Mark 5:25

What defined her…
* Her disease – 12 years of being considered unclean

You can see from the Old and New Testaments that not much is different in how the world tries to define our worth. But these women didn’t live by those definitions. They all chose to let God define their worth. Ruth and Rehab left their people and gods to follow the one true God and they both became a part of the lineage of Christ. Esther trusted God and He used her to save her people. The Woman with the issue of blood believed Jesus cared and had faith that He could heal her if she just touched his garment. All of these women let God transform their thinking and He used them to make an impact.

 Ladies, God wants to use you to make an impact too. But first, you need to embrace how He created you. Don’t give in any longer to the lies of the world. Let God define your worth. To Him, you are more than enough.

 Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
