Redefined

A while back I asked some of my girls to share with me labels that their peers or society had given them. They shared labels like weak, insecure, not worth it, loud, heartless, mean, dramatic, rude, quiet, not good enough and the list goes on. I don’t know what word people have labeled you with today but I know this, that word does not define you.

Scripture defines us as a daughter of the King. 1 John 3 tells you and me that we are the daughters of God. And Paul tells us in his first letter to Timothy that God is the King of kings.

1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

1 Timothy 6:15
”…God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.”

God is King and you are His daughter. The only label that should define you is…

DAUGHTER OF THE KING!

Being a daughter of the King means we have to let go of all the other labels society and others give us. I love the encouragement from Psalm 45:10-11.

“Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house. The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.”

We have to forget what everyone else tells us they see and remember what the King of kings sees…A beautiful daughter that He is captivated by. We must live redefined as a daughter of the King so that we honor Him in all we do.

It won’t be easy. The labels won’t just automatically disappear or even stop coming. But when we are in God’s Word and believe in how God has defined us more than the labels flying our direction, we can fight from victory because we know who we are.

Let me encourage you today to dig into His word and find scriptures that can be your weapons against your labels. And be encouraged you are not alone.

Redefined
By Krista Michelle

The enemy wants to define me,
Others try to give me a false identity.
Labels of weak and insecure,
Try to hold me prisoner.
The lie that I’m not worth it
Tries to break me down bit by bit.
But I won’t be confined or broken,
Because God’s Word has spoken.

It tells me I’m worthy of love and sacrifice,
That’s why His Son gave His life.
It tells me who He sees,
The woman I am meant to be.
A daughter of the King,
Who He delights in more than anything.
It’s these words that transform my mind,
So I can live my life redefined.
