Set Apart

Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.
Psalm 4:3

We live in a world where the best parts of our lives are on display. As we scroll through our feeds, it appears like everyone else has it all together except us. The truth is what we see isn’t always reality. And what is real is that person’s journey, not ours. God’s plan for you isn’t His plan for someone else. That’s why we need to move our focus from the screens we scroll through all day to the pages of scripture.

The Lord has been using His word recently to engrave on my heart the truth of being set apart.  Matthew 22:14 says, “For many are invited, but few are chosen.” The Lord has invited us and chosen us to be His. In return we choose Him and He calls us to be set apart.

God has not called me and He has not called you to an ordinary life but to one that leaves us in awe of Him day after day. Maybe like mine, most of your life seems to be a pattern of taking a few steps forward and then waiting.  Those seasons of waiting are the hardest but also the most rewarding. One thing God continually reminds me of as I wait for open doors in ministry, prayers to be answered, and so many other things along my journey is that I am not set aside and forgotten. Instead, I am set apart for something greater than I can imagine.

His word tells us in Ephesians that we are a masterpiece and created for good works that He already has planned out for us. David says in Psalms that we are chosen and God wants to draw us close so He can fill us with good things. Let these truths encourage you. You too are not set aside and forgotten. God has a plan for you!

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10

Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.
Psalm 65:4

You may not understand or see the fullness of God’s plan at this moment but don’t let the enemy use comparison to make you feel set aside. Psalm 4:3 says, “Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.” Wherever you are on your journey, know that God has set you apart for Himself and hears you when you call His name.  He will answer and use you in ways you can’t even imagine.

You are set apart!
