Leader Appreciation Ideas

On one of my coaching calls this year a young lady asked me to help brainstorm ideas and gifts for leader appreciation. It got me thinking about the different things I’ve done through the years. I wanted to share a few of my favorite ones with you so you…

Pullovers

It’s always fun to fill up your leader’s closets with student ministry apparel from events. But what if you made something just for them? One year we found pullovers to give to our leaders. We let them pick the color and added our student ministry logo. They were a big hit.

Tumblers/Cups/Mugs

This is one of the as thank-you gifts we did for all the ladies who served at our girl’s events. We would put the theme from that year’s event on it. Then attach a handwritten thank you note to it.

*You can also use your student ministry logo and give it as a gift to all your volunteers.

Movie Night

Create a movie night bucket for your leader and their family. Fill it with candy, popcorn, and drinks. Then personalize it by putting their name on the bucket. You can also personalize it by putting the leader’s favorite snacks and drinks in it. This was the idea we came up with on my coaching call and the ministry leader shared that her volunteers loved it.

Party

Throwing a party for your leaders is a great way to show your appreciation to the group all at once. At the party give a gift to every leader. The gifts don’t have to be super expensive. You could do a couple of high-dollar gifts but then keep the rest low-cost. It’s student ministry so have fun with games, toys, small electronics, and silly gifts.

We gave them out by drawing numbers throughout the night. When a leader’s number was called, he/she came to the table grab a gift, and opened it. It was lots of fun to cheer and laugh with our leaders.

Handwritten notes

A handwritten note seems so simple. But often it meant the most to our leaders because we took the time to write the note and mail it to them. This is great to do several times a year.

Hope this has gotten your creative juices flowing with ways to appreciate your leaders!
